Eggplant, Thai Round

Eggplants are such a fun, easy, plant to grow. One plant will easily feed a family of four for a period long enough to eventually get tired of eating eggplants.

This heirloom Thai eggplant variety is disease resistant and will adapt to most growing conditions. Plants are vigorous growers that produce 2-inch round tender, green-skinned fruits with white stripes that have a delicate flavor. It’s like a cherry tomato in eggplant form.

Plant size: 20-24” tall and wide

Plant spacing: 24-36” apart

Sun, soil, and water requirement: Eggplants love full sun, warm, fertile, well-draining soil that is high in organic matter and needs consistent deep watering- especially in hot climates.

Harvesting: Frequent harvesting will encourage more production.

Culinary: Thai eggplants are commonly pickled or cooked in curries, noodles, rice dishes, and stews. They are also tasty when grilled, stir-fried, or made into a relish.

Nutrients: Eggplants are high in fiber and low in calories.

Companion planting: Plant Thai eggplants with carrots, marigolds, and mint. Keep away from beans, corn, dill broccoli, and cauliflower.
