Rosemary is a tender perennial, a gardener staple, a must-have, must grow, must smell kind of plant. Very low maintenance, drought-tolerant, tasteful, aromatic, versatile, and adds a wonderful texture to the garden area. This herb is adaptable to its living environment and will stay small in a pot by your front door or become the size of a medium shrub if planted in the ground. One of the most popular herbs used by chefs all around the world and can be used by you too!

Days to Maturity: 120-180 days

Plant size: 18-60” tall

Plant spacing: 12-36” apart depending on how big you want your plant to get

Sun, soil, and water requirement: Rosemary loves full sun, especially in the warm summer months, and enjoys light, well-draining soil. Your new plant will need to be watered more often as it settles into its new home. Mature plants planted in the ground can rely purely on rainfall. If grown in a container, water when the top 1-2 inches become dry. Better to water deeply and not often.

Harvesting: Best if used fresh in dishes. If you choose to dry it, keep it out of direct sunlight, in a dry location, and hang in small bunches.

Culinary: Rosemary is often used with chicken and other poultry, game, lamb, pork, steaks, and fish. It also goes well with grains, mushrooms, onions, peas, potatoes (our favorite), and spinach. Rinse fresh sprigs of rosemary under cold running water and pat dry before using; rosemary likes to give you sticky fingers.

Nutrients: Although it's typically used in smaller amounts, Rosemary still contains vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. Minerals in rosemary include calcium, iron, and magnesium, and manganese.

Companion planting: Plant near beans, cabbage, sage, broccoli, and hot peppers. Keep away from pumpkins, squash, and carrots. Rosemary repels bean beetles, cabbage moths, and carrot flies.
